Gibran Khalil Gibran_ from his book: Al Aawasif_ The Crucified Jesus

My Holiday ..

.. " I've found almost everything ever written about love to be true. Shakespeare said "Journeys end in lovers meeting." What an extraordinary thought. Personally, I have not experienced anything remotely close to that, but I am more than willing to believe Shakespeare had. I suppose I think about love more than anyone really should. I am constantly amazed by its sheer power to alter and define our lives. It was Shakespeare who also said "love is blind". Now that is something I know to be true. For some quite inexplicably, love fades; for others love is simply lost. But then of course love can also be found, even if just for the night. And then, there's another kind of love: the cruelest kind. The one that almost kills its victims. Its called unrequited love. Of that I am an expert. Most love stories are about people who fall in love with each other. But what about the rest of us? What about our stories, those of us who fall in love alone? We are the victims of the one sided affair. We are the cursed of the loved ones. We are the unloved ones, the walking wounded. The handicapped without the advantage of a great parking space! Yes, you are looking at one such individual. And I have willingly loved that man for over three miserable years! The absolute worst years of my life! The worst Christmas', the worst Birthday's, New Years Eve's brought in by tears and valium. These years that I have been in love have been the darkest days of my life. All because I've been cursed by being in love with a man who does not and will not love me back " ..
.. " I understand feeling as small and as insignificant as humanly possible. And how it can actually ache in places you didn't know you had inside you. And it doesn't matter how many new haircuts you get, or gyms you join, or how many glasses of chardonnay you drink with your girlfriends... you still go to bed every night going over every detail and wonder what you did wrong or how you could have misunderstood. And how in the hell for that brief moment you could think that you were that happy. And sometimes you can even convince yourself that he'll see the light and show up at your door. And after all that, however long all that may be, you'll go somewhere new. And you'll meet people who make you feel worthwhile again. And little pieces of your soul will finally come back. And all that fuzzy stuff, those years of your life that you wasted, that will eventually begin to fade .. "
Iris ( Kate Winslet ) from the movie "The Holiday"

Ahoy lovely beings, active readers of my blog, the true nomad forms, the true nomadic swarms that hover all around the cyberspace in search of the altruism.
Let me wish you all a happy year, after covering two thousand and nine years since the birth of Christ ( but it is now de facto that Christ was born 6 years before our adopted two thousand and nine years in the Gregorian Calendar, but of course no one is capable to ulter the whole calender and reverse the whole time for 6 years. after all we, nomadic swarms, do all agree and assess that time is irreversible.. etc etc)
I won't talk much nor explain anything, but letting you read it again ( especially to those who haven't watched the movie yet), and let 2009 be that sun rays to shine upon you by the dawn of each day..

happy new year to you all and i'll be updating you soon with new "back-on-track" delights :)

Eulogizing Gaza..!??

eulogy |ˈyoōləjē|
noun ( pl. -gies)
a speech or piece of writing that praises someone or something highly, typically someone who has just died.
(apple built-in oxford dictionary)

Is gaza dead?
another title to be left unanswered in the uncanny world of democracy.

OCCUPATION HAS ALWAYS FAILD, THIS IS OUR LAND".. It's what Tim Robbins uttered to Tom Cruise when the later asked him to stop digging an escape tunnel in the Steven Spielberg movie: "war of the worlds".
and who would have thought of that, occupation is already here, BUT again , THIS IS OUR LAND ..

When robert McNamara traveled to Hanoi six times to meet with Vietnamese leaders involved in the Vietnam war, he was told by some officials to be paraphrased as follows: "...you are fighting other countries on our soil from one hand and claiming we are terrorists when we resist on the other hand,... but we will ultimately win because we are fighting for a belief, a cause , we are fighting for existence, that such cause could never be over-run by stated ordered democracy..."
..and it proved correct..

but what if the opposing offender lose, could it be that an international tribunal might come to ground bringing offenders to trial as war criminals? (quoting too from McNamara's interview movie)

Though again, Why shall they fight back , let them blow their trebuchets.. see the roman empire, a few handful of mongols managed to bring down the Huge empire, and what was the equation:
Resistance+ love of land+ the basic need's' of life+security+social values..

Abraham Maslow was right when he considered basic needs at the bottom part of his "hierarchy of needs" pyramid. he was exceedingly correct when he considered that no one can leap from one need to another. and the need here is not security, it exceeds it into the fight for life, for living, for breathing, for food then for security. that's what the resistance was all about, and that's why freedom and free of choice shall prevail!

When crucifixion is not a myth, when reality depends on not what is written but what is witnessed, what is seen and sensed and perceived and believed in.
Then gaza is not dead, and IT shall Resurrect !

N.B: the above eulogy is to memorialize the clean-handed innocent children, the women, the elderly.. though it has nothing hidden in its confines to deliver any message to any party nor to be taken as a boost to any resistance whatsoever. It nonetheless sends a clear message, a message of humanitarian support and awakening to the world, shooting out loud: ENOUGH. it is time to build societies, not to burn them. it is time to build cultures not to deteriorate them. it is time to love humanely not to diminish man.. IT IS TIME TO LIVE AND LET LIVE

MERRY CHRISTMAS !

thirst..hunger.. adjectives, but can they feel the need of food, and water..
Christmas, can it feel the need for christmas ?
what's that relation between CHRISTMAS and christmas.. the relation between a Signified(if any) and multiple signifiers.
what about emotional feelings, taking love as a rat lab.
can love demand love?
is it the accretive need for love in order to persist?

an introduction to a dialogue that shall strive to be told at another space and time.

now back to that ONE spirit that shall never vanish..as long as gamma rays are emitted upon splitting atoms to reach all mankind-on earth and beyond; as long as happiness is a pursue and not something we can wait for to arrive by itself; and as long as we reach self actualization if and only we believe in dreams to be real, to work for them to achieve them (referring to Joseph and Mary's dreams); and as long as we actualize virtual reality to becoming a realized matter; and as long as the sun is there to give us heat and light without separating one from the other (the father, son and the holy ghost), then we shall never seize to greet each other by saying:

Woulida al masi7 .. hallilouya

CHRIST IS BORN .. hallelujah

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU !

Misconstrued elegy..

N.B: all above pictures are captured using canon eos 30 elan 7 slr film camera using Ilford XP2 Super 400 black and white film.

It's been quite an interesting blackout since i last posted on blogspot, however, and me going back on the track of acculturating online again; i'll herald some brief moments that stood a point in the past few months.
.. it's been work that's been taking all time. in fact part of that time, not all of the time.. next to work, it was transportation.. you know how it's in lebanon to cross 10 km daily.. there's somehow a formula for lebanese transportation: in the morning, between 7.30 and 8.00: 1 km=> 10 min in beirut and district.. between 8 and 12.00 1 km=>5 min. between 17.00 and 18.30, 1km=>11 min..
but wait a minute, did anyone mention public transportation? yes, i did .. the governments' mafias decided unanimously to "terminate" all government owned buses to be replaced by Politicians' owned ones. but then that "governmental mafia" was overturned by some other local street gangs and decided that buses should only be "under the sole rule" of that one person standing at ses... square obtaining a 1000 l.l for every bus, 40 buses a day, hence achieving a min of  700,000 l.l per month. yes, that's the guy who only has to stand at that specific street crossing to organize buses.
nevertheless, this post won't be to shed light on the already defamed lebanese "public' transportation, than to simply post some of the "personal" things i found interesting for you-readerly writers of my blog to enjoy and adhere to.
Even though participating in the 10 km "run for chance" beirut marathon event, and passing those 10 km in 1 hour and 42 minutes (couldn't run due to lack of training), i shall herein try to post some images of the marathon as an addendum to this post.

.."he discovered an orphan line of thinkers affiliated only in their opposition to the state philosophy that would nevertheless accord them minor positions in its canon. from Lucretius, Hume, Spinoza, Nietzsche,  and Bergson there runs a "secret link constituted by the critique of negativity, the cultivation of joy, the hatred of interiority, the exteriority of forces and relations, the denunciation of power." Gille Deleuze cross-fertilized that line of "Nomad thought" with contemporary theory..." see a User's Guide to Capitalism and Schizophrenia, Brian Massumi, p.2-3
and so does nomad, being bound by that exact lineage, that secret link to bind them to nomad thought. It's that ability to bring heterogeneities into an assemblage keeping on that multiplicity within the marginal footnotes.
As i always put it, to thrive, strive, we need to embark the footnotes. we need to be on the footnotes, the marginals that would obliterate the imposing force of the self into a power-self that would reign over war state (machinic state).
.. it goes without saying, the dilation of the tight present into a contemporaneous of future-past coexistence, would pave ways to incorporating timely heterogeneities to be assembled again, presumably speculating, into a neo, or sort of, a post-theory of forms.

Enough of the nomadic thoughts illustrations, let us now scrutinize together some of the "future-past" dilations temporized in black and white as to avoid inter-cultural conflicts, of course me being a pacifist, wouldn't allow for any other.
Enjoy!

an Obliterating self..

a Nomad says:
What if the Roman Brittania has this safety b-box with it's rival keeper, BbS..
What if Cyrus II empire is and shall reach obliteration? and by whose authorities? the 51st gate city.. but hey, they might need it. IF Cyrus II knew of his empire's atrocities, then he would have asked for that himself..
What if MEbcD was to be nuked down to its 7th layers, claiming it's the meteorite who did all that ( and what meteorite we're talking about? who's maneuvering it? what launcher ;) ..
What CUNTS !!! STUPID IMBECILES!!!

It's quite a disparaging act to think for a while that THEY do care. I don't care, then why should they?
Integrity my fellow members of the swarm, here where it all sums up. Integrity.
We are asked to obey "norms", standards "they" think might be satisfactory to the development of thinking.. yet what are those norms? let's consider norms in architecture, many come to "vitruvianize" architecture. Why do i care if a certain door is 80 or 90 cm, whereby the thing i need most is to pass from a certain space to another. Why do windows need to be 1 m levitated from the finished floor level.. well this is the case "those proclaiming to be architects "think in Lebanon and the whole "ME" as not to blame the Lebanese solely for that idiosyncratic act (it's turning into a Neufertian move of affects).
And some try to "vitruvianize" politics, even they try to "vitruvianize" social values, socio-political and socio-geographical facts.. isn't it not what BbS wants from his last act of the play?
Nomad concludes that it seems it's time to change those norms, rather to obliterate them. It's time to dictate the new neo-norms, the new values of perception, of cognition. After all knowledge is not innate, but rather accreted (isn't it what edgar le Moigne painstakingly worked on to negate descartes' old epistemological knowledge?)

The architectural atrocities of Lebanon's Neo-Architects (of those proclaiming to be architects)

It has been a time since i last posted, but here I am, though described by some as complexifying things, nevertheless, I am here to project unto you, fellow Rhizometects and Nomads, the current unacceptable atrocities and hegemonic unpropitious manipulations that are being daily deterritorializing the uncanny world of architecture, more to focus on the so-called "Lebanese Architecture".

"WE CREATE, WE DESIGN, WE ARE ARCHITECTS". These are the terms that sum up today's Lebanese so-called architects. They create, yet they fail to evolutionize a "form" from its embryologic state. They design yet fail to comprehend the origins of architecture itself. They admit of being eclectic, but what is eclecticism? is it the "copy-paste" of "elements" we "like"? what is copy-paste, the apogee of fraud itself. what are elements, the end result of profound theoretical and philosophical inquiries to reach certain assessments that reveal to the eyes as elements ornamenting today's architectural forms. And what are shapes we like and objects we dislike? Is architecture a matter of taste? can we sense the flavor of a certain building? do senses provide an objective criteria to criticize architectural designs?
Well, it seems there do exist people in lebanon and outside, presumably architects, who seem to taste architecture. They pretend to judge any design just in the first 3 seconds after peaking at it. They only need to say either one of the two words, i like , i don't like. Who are they to express such atrocities? They claim they can "create" the ultimate solutions for all problems, and they can go with it harmlessly. Design to them is to work with concrete. And what do they know ab out concrete? concrete and form work to them is metal beams and ribs poured with concrete mixture. To them architecture is to know how to realize a certain multi-story building will repetitive floors, yet still having that 1960's design techniques. To them architecture is opening Autocad, copying files, elements, drawing the detail of an aluminum window, projecting elevations whose grid would be nothing but cartesian. Tilted lines to them are innovations, heh, and they say they are deconstructing (funny no? ). Those are the so-called Lebanese architects. They are the pseudo-Palladians yet failing to realize who Andrea Palladio is. Creativity to them is to draft on Autocad and copy the exact details found in any of Palladio's villas. Hey, I like that colonnade, let's copy it. I like those window details, let's see if we can fit them inside that rectangular facade. HAVEN'T YOU HEARD OF GOLDEN SECTIONS??? And what about those colonnades, why a tripple column colonnade, why a logia... why this, why that? is it cause Palladio used them and we succeeded in copying them?
I can talk and talk till infinity pin-pointing current atrocities among Lebanese architects, yet the aim here is not to show defects, not to warn you clients of not investing in those Lebanese architects; but to shed some light on the local and global architectural knowledge, it's presuppositions and conceptions, its Raisons D'etres, the epistemology, and teleology in the uncanny world of design.
Having said that, in the coming posts I shall try to reflect some reversed procedural methodologies in how to initiate Lebanese to first eliminate subjective eclecticism from their intellectual dictionaries, then start providing teleological conceptions to amend the past atrocities in the Lebanese architectural heritage.

Fact leaves no doubt for possibilities...

What is a fact, what facts are architectural, and what are factual social networks that would build up into architectural facts.

Back to our virtual socially interactive networks discussed ditto-the Internet Relay Chat (IRC)- the first question that comes into mind is, is IRC a fact? Who are those users, clients, visitors, guests, we talk to. Are they real people, are they bots, virtual robots, guests that are generated algorithmically to react to certain keywords, or even to try to initiate any topic?

Or is IRC the 21st century ECHELON? Was it found to try to detect people online, to intercept their words on main channels, to breech their networks, to initiate virtual, yet faked social networks, that might end, maybe for some as being herself a victim of one foul romantic scammer whose girlfriend might have lately ditched him, and found revenge on irc? (Or he might turn up into a serial killer...). And what about him, that person who goes there out of boredom, to meet a whole new parallel reality, a reality which for once seems to be realer than the real, but it turns out to be just the perfect place for a romantic scam (I mentioned romantic scams as examples cause few of my friends were victims of such cases).

And what has architecture to do with IRC. What if IRC is a fact indeed, what if it leaves no doubt for possibilities, after all this is what a fact all about, to eliminate possibilities. Hence the hypothesis would go as such; if IRC is real, then 3D built virtual environments are real, therefore social interaction that was once found to flourish among the 1 Dimensional channels of its servers would add to the corroboration of such social interactions among the 3Dimensional and hence the (n-1) dimensions generated within the 3D architectural virtual space of the computer.
It goes without saying that unless IRC is not a fact, unless IRC leaves doubts for possibilities, then, architecture as we know is not real, and the only real architecture, that would relatively and asymptotically tend into becoming the for sought BWO, is the only “REAL” world we need to seek for, to beseech, to acquire, to develop and to cultivate in the sub-conscious minds of nomads.

"Realer than the real"

Architecture, a word whose contents exceeded those of simply mere buildings into the computer space itself. Indeed, there is computer architecture, dealing with the inner core of the computer. Very large scale integrations, designing the chips, those tiny elements we see hanging up on the circuit board. Chips brought together in that striated space of the computer core. Really fascinating the term architecture. But what if we adapt architecture to our daily interactions. What if we come one day to call, meeting yody, an architectural breakthrough (Yody is an amalgam of words generated herein to refer to any person X interacting with person Y (Y happens to be a nomad in this case) in the integrated space of the computer). Again, what if we come to call, meeting yody, an architectural breakthrough. What if we appropriated architecture to be integrated in any mere interaction between two people, X and Y, meeting online? If architecture is about the amelioration and the favouring of interaction or generating social interaction among living beings, then interacting with yody, online- in the computer’s cyberspace of the internet, is too an architectural innovation; not to say an architecturally generated interaction.

I know for the time being, the above tackled subject is simply considered of having no contextual linkage. Nevertheless, what if intertexuality is part or is considered as the major constituent in this interactive online architectural space. It seems true the hypothesis that generating textual derivatives for any social interaction online is in itself similar or part of the Rhizomatic assemblaging of an architectural wholeness. In other words, textual amalgams generated in any online dialogue, reveal in one way an architectural coherence to the real yet virtual environment of cyberspace. Hence making it for once realer than the real. To be later brought into assemblage in a unified whole architectonized space.

Referring back to the previous post, the above hypothesis would be an initiative to one day linking between the virtual space of the internet into a realer than real collaborative space whereby online interactions are merely part of a more global architectural networking.

ARCHITECTURAL MASTURBATION

Members of the nomadic swarm, I salute you all.

It’s been quite some time, almost three months since I last posted in my blogspot. But here I am again, and I shall be reiterating here every now and then more quite often.

But what have I been doing lately?

Work, work and work.

The first work is trying to attain what usually people in the world of architecture (business architecture) call, work experience. You go into the office from 9 till 6. You work and work. Sometimes you are an employer, at other times you are the manager of your own work. Sometimes you get introduced to crucial issues in the uncanny world of architecture. This is work 1.

The second kind of work is kind of an acculturation issue. What a better place to acculturate in than the Internet Relay Chat. Nevertheless, chatting on irc wasn’t a major concern, rather than the social ecology that keeps fascinating me till this time is what matters the most. But what is highly speculative in this web space is the people’s ability, from all over the world, different cultures, come to interact in one space, following one constitution, abiding by the same rules...all in all, one state. A war machine, an abstract machine, the State. But what if the war machine, this striated space is manipulated into a smooth state, a space not entangled by the rules, at least rules can exist, but only for the amelioration of the state. When can we not rely to verbosity to acculturate? It seems the feasibility of replacing a verbose interaction into a socio-spatial harmony of affects. Whereby one system affects the other, one user is affected by the system, and the user adds to the system, modifies it, upend it. Can it become a space of literally a physical matter? Can IRC become a hyperspace, whereby interaction is physical next to being verbose? In fact, we can remove the usage of verbose interaction from IRC, and it’ll just become a space, an entity, a rhizome, a form, a Rhizomatic form...I know my speculations are not tectonized by any rigid theory, at least not for the time being, nevertheless, as an advocate to Deleuze’s a Thousand Plateaus, any amendment later on is highly plausible.

As for the 3rd type of work I was indulged in, was just a competition, well in fact a priori lost competition. The Rifat al Chadirji competition. The rules to apply to the competition are that the university shall pick the diploma project that it thinks reflects a social dimension, i.e could be any place that directly addresses social issues in lebanon. I know, what an absurd word to ask for an architectural designer. I mean the word social by itself is not absurd, but, I still can’t figure that fact that there exist projects that are still not social, nor do they favour social interaction. Anyhow, after much discussion, I was allowed to present the project, not as a wining paper for the al Chadirji competition, but as later on a piece of work to be exhibited after the competition at the order of engineers and architects in Lebanon, in an attempt to pin-point or at least just initiate those who claim they know it all, about the existence of yet another form of architecture, rhizometecture, an architecture that is highly speculative on the post-tectonic architecture that is currently tantalizing the uncanny world of architecture. So it was sort of beneficial ;)

I shall not add more, but do have a peak at some panels of the senior project I exhibited. You’ll definitely enjoy this ARCHITECTURAL MASTURBATION.

Saluting my blogspot...

Hello all members of the nomadic swarm. It has been quite a time since I last updated you with latest rhizomatic speculations. But this is due to many "nomadic" commitments, starting from work, graduation commencement, intensified summer outgoings...
Of course, I shall be upgrading you all, writerly readers of the blog, with up-to-date information about my nomadic aberrations; but for the time being, just have a look at one small creature I recently adopted as my own.

Magna Cum Laude...

Magna Cum Laude...I heard it before, but now I comprehend its profound meaning. I can read it clear on my certificate, but I didn't understand why. Now I see, now I comprehend, now I really know what Magna Cum Laude refers to for an architect, a Rhizometect.

One phase accomplished...yet others should follow soon...
Ultimately, one final review, one presentation, one project, one hypothesis, one evaluation, one certificate...a success...what then...one should never be left alone without the two. And I am working to accomplish it too.

Conclusively, diplomas and certificates are just a single premature stage in one’s quest for knowledge in the arborescent uncanny world of architecture. Concomitantly important are the Rhizomatic achievements that go with or precede those certificates. No need to mention that any certificate represents just a static momentum in the infinitely though compressed time and space. In the folds of spatio-temporal continuum we do unfold into multifaceted certificates, but the focal hub is what goes in between those static stages.

I won’t evaluate much cause evaluations are just summarizations, but do look below at a remarkable real life example of one static momentum mentioned ditto.

I am back...on the track...

Senior Project final review...success...graduation...work...and next to come...
It has been almost 90 days since I last posted on this blog but now I am back on the track.
In the uncanny world of architecture, pragmatism and radicalism are always in a fight, in an everlasting fight to power, to rule,...but in this fight aesthetics is a loser.
Again Hey all, writerly readers of thy nomadic blog. First you will all wonder where have I been all this time. The fact is that I graduated 1 week before Christmas, and I managed to upload in the previous post some images of my final senior project. (more exhaustive images are to be posted later this week, and this is final)
Nevertheless, and before advancing more in my "rhizomatic" academic quest for knowledge to progressing to a master's degree , I sought the chance of indulging in some practical real life work. As a result, I worked since January and for around 2 months in an architectural office developing real life projects(well mainly experimenting on 3Ds, elevations, plans, details...bla bla bla). Below is an image of the active staff at my workplace (the poor image quality is due to it being shot by a mobile device)

From Left to Right:

Rana, Hisham abi rached, Ziad, Me , Roland, Ghassan, Jean
Though we are all knocking down our heads, but fear nothing, it's not mourning

When the staff knew about posting their image on this blog, they demanded I add small hints about each character, so here they are (those of you not interested in passive information, can omit this section cause it is primarily descriptive).

Rana: funny, but mostly agitated upon mentioning her beloved one. She is active but calm. The only girl in the Atelier (besides the secretary of course).

Hisham abi rached: A Chevalier, in all literally means. He is easily adaptable to working environments. He likes to be called "The Boss"

Ziad: Head of the Atelier. Calm and deeply thoughtful. Friendly, but don't be a wise guy when he's around.

Me-Rhizometct: I can't define myself of course. But What the staff unanimously speak about me:
Providential are those who work with rhizometect, for a two month work with him is aggrandized as if it was a year. We never get tedious from him around.

Roland: To graduate as an architect on the coming july. A dynamic person but who considers one's life amusements as equal or greater than work itself (in fact he introduced me to snowboarding).

Ghassan: He came on my last day at office. So i know nothing about him(sorry)

Jean: funny and pure hearted person. An addict to the standardized norms in architecture (most of the stuff is), but troubles himself in issues that are considered secondary and sometimes of no importance.

Also not to forget mentioning Joe, the one who shot the image. To graduate on the coming July, Joe likes to harass the staff, but it is just a matter of hours when he approaches you and confesses of his pure heartedness. So all in all, he does create a laughing atmosphere at the workplace.

Final Senior Project Review...

To all rhizomatic readers of my blog, it is known that an old promised event, by time, it becomes of no value. Nevertheless, my promise to you to reveal my senior project is now under execution.
Alas, after many weeks of research, communication, installation and adaptation to latest 3D simulation softwares, and few pre-reviews, i came to finally present my Diploma senior project last wednesday on the 20th of December 2006. As for the review itself, I just want to say that it turned out to becoming a rather intellectual debate lecture about post-systemic and post-platonic conceptions of forms and from-generation. I believe this sums it up. The jury members were dubious at some issues, but this only occurred due to some obscured drawings presented (but i tell you it was part of my subliminal aim to conveying such an atmosphere of uncertainty). The final evaluation was a success in the conceptual proposal, the formal and spatial aesthetic portrayal, but of course, as many of you guys out there (interested in reading such stuff), the structural analysis came to a momentum hindrance due to the lack of tools (especially CNC milling machines, the lack of digital technologies in the middle eastern culture in general, and the lack of profound research in the development of custom-made structural solutions); nevertheless, in these cases, referring to lately developed prototypes as similar to Anish Capoor millennium park, Frank Ghery's innovative solutions...all provided persuasive response to hindered issues.
I know now you are being deterritorialized by the above sentences and you are more than eager to peak at some of the presented work. So here it is in its partiality.Enjoy the so-called "an Architectural Masturbation"

is it gender-neutral or can we determine its sex and gender

Is it gender-neutral or can we determine its sex and gender?
Can a building be a he or a she, and are we able to determine a building's sex gender; or are buildings gender-neutral?
First, can we determine a building's sex and gender/ sex refers to the male and female duality of biology and reproduction. Gender has more to do with identity than biology. It determines the state of being male or female or neither. Wikipedia Encyclopedia

If sex has relation to biology, then in architecture, does it refer to the elements used? And if gender has to do with the identity than biology, then in architecture, does it refer to the functionality of certain architecture? An answer to the above dilemma will periodically be posted synchronous to my final senior project thesis and the implementation, possibly, in an architectural endeavour epitomizing the questions:

Why don’t we tell if a building is a female or a male and When can we tell if a building is a he or a she. Should we look at certain elements to determine a building’s sex and gender, should we look at the buildings’ functions. Is it a visual identity, or is it related to its structural complexity, the use of many elements, or is it its name, is it the functional integrity inside the building itself that determines its sex and gender. Are we able to determine it by vision? Are we able to determine the building’s sex and gender through our senses?

And when are we able to generate a building that is either a he or a she or a gender-neutral?

Answers to questions Ditto will be tackeld more profoundly in the twin post-systemic blogspot:

Who cares !

No one cares if Bush nukes out the Middle East by the end of 200X.
No one cares if Boeing developes a new rival (a 787 Dreamliner) to Airbus (A 380) by the end of 200Y.
No one cares if Bin Laden is still kicking or will be dead by the end of 200Z.
No one cares if Blair pulls his troops from Iraq by the end of 200X.
No one cares if Birds flapping wings can cause a shift in global weather by the end of 200Y.
No one cares if Bagdad is on the verge of the civil war by the end of 200Z.
.
.
But all care if Blogger decides to capitulate to an international infringement of google accounts at the pace of National Security Protocols; maybe aiming to save earth from a global terrorist disaster by impregnating viruses into secured accounts, hence generating evolutionary parametric algorithms to fight it back by the end of 200X.

inconsiderable apology :)

Hmm...utter bitterness? I think not; though others might consider it as such.
Final Review was supposed to be on September (as I previously informed you nomadic members of the swarm), but now Senior Project’s Final Review is decidedly agreed to be held “soon” enough (willingly sometime b/w October 5 and 30)
Having uttered this, I am wrapping up my conceptions into a Final Senior Project in an attempt to present. This entails some swiftness in work and a “shiftness’” from daily to weekly posts. Nevertheless, I render the feasibility of posting few images of yet to come Final Senior Project, even though posting them before the final review.

Here is just a slight idea of what i am dealing with in my senior project:

A Rhizometect's perception of the MiddleEast Paradox !

This movie epitomizes a Rhizometect's perception of a whole new yet old Middle Eastern crisis, which seems now a paradox to him (remember Zeno's paradoxes)
Rhizometect needs you all, active writerly readers(passive readers are discarded) to comment whether in this blogspot or in the original location of the movie.

Russian Refuses Highest Math Honor !

I have to confess my failing in a "solitudeness" of utter academic work. However the content here is one for architects as salt is for the Mediterranean.(Click here to read the full article in context)
Just to summarize, it is all an issue of "topological admiration". This being endorsed Topology so much as to leave behind a Fields Medal and a $1 million.
Hmm...will any architect be such a boaster one day and leave behind The Pritzker Architecture Prize? Maybe a rhizometect might.

Acephalous peace => No Procrastination => Snr. Pr. Due Date

It hase always been as such, an "Acephalous" seize fire, or to call it "Acephalous Peace".
This issue, nevertheless, entails me to banish procrastination in favor of wraping up my Senior Project.
Yes, I say it once more, there is no time to spare on additional though fertile extensive research any more. What they only did was cutting the lizard's tail (and they thought it was the snake's head"s" instead).

Anyway, in the coming weeks I'll be working extensively on my senior project so I'll be hardpressed to afford any time to update you fellow attendants of an Acephalous blog of mine.

By the way, I found this image in Wikipedia encyclopedia website, and I need you to
speculate on it a bit. I'll be giving you its description soon.

Now it seems the time to paste the image with explanation(picture to the right)

farewell to procrastination...farewell to the semantics of war !

farewell to procrastination...farewell to the semantics of war !
Or should I say, Farewell to the semantics of peace and war. I don't know as I am concerned, but those of you out there defninitely know something. I believe you know a slight thing about an "Airline Bomb Plot", then why shouldn't you know anything about "a farewell to war and peace" !
Ofcourse I am more than ever now eager to witness a Middle East whereby we come to have a unified dictionary demystifying an abrupt use of the terms Peace and War not as antonyms but as synonyms. Yes, I am attesting an embryology of a Middle Eastern Dictionary whose terms of peace and war are not opposite anymore. In fact this new dictionary comprise only the two terms: peace and war.

Who we really are: From the (N-1) to the Nth

"We are already in space, in a space-time of (n-1) dimensions; but we are on the verge of achieving the Nth dimension, whereby we not only add locomotives and exploit our organs, but we manipulate the basic generative genes that would ultimately lead to both a survival and a destruction of the "feeble". Post-Script: Socio-politico-Gravitational speculations !

I will not speculate much on the current lebanese/Israeli balance of a socio-political cosmology that is on the verge of "disoder" (yet I hope this "disorder" is "complexified").
I will only leave you, for the space-time being, with this analogy b/w a well-ordered balanced cosmology and a disordered complex yet balanced mundane.

According to me, Rhizometect, it seems that all curent socio-political issue elucidates Issac Newton's gravitational hypothesis but in an opposite inverse scenario.

In other terms, Issac Newton observed apples falling from the tree then he deduced, of course after much mathematical experimentation, that "gravity" is the perpetrator.
Now what is happening, or at least what is going to happen, is the inverse of Newton's hypothesis. "They" are appropriating the term "gravity" then they wait and observe the apple tree (even though they know what is next).
Oll Korrect only if apples do fall down vertically (or at least as they hope so).
But what if apples flew up?
What if apples never came to fall at all?
But by the time we intuit this, the term "gravity" would have been resided and changing and replacing it by another identification might be and should be perverse.

I won't be able now to explain profoundly my speculations (due to the fact that the internet is nowadays vulnerable to blackHoles that are emulsifying the world wide web's "self-determination"). But if such speculation is scientifically feasable, then its feasability intensify also in a "socio-politico-gravitational" comsmological conflict per se.

Hawking Says Space Colonies Needed...I think he's right

The great man's answer to the question of human survival: Er, I don't know

· Hawking's conundrum draws 25,000 responses
· Best bet, he says, may be to go into outer space

Ian Sample, science correspondent
Thursday August 3, 2006
The Guardian

It was an unusual move for one of the world's most eminent scientists. Having built a career shedding light on the darkest secrets of the universe, from the essence of space-time to the complexity of black holes, Professor Stephen Hawking turned to the internet for answers to the latest conundrum occupying his planet-sized brain.

Introducing himself to the online community as a theoretical physicist and Lucasian professor of mathematics at the University of Cambridge, the 64-year-old scientist posed an open question: "In a world that is in chaos politically, socially and environmentally, how can the human race sustain another 100 years?"

The question appeared on the website Yahoo Answers a month ago, immediately stirring up an internet storm that saw more than 25,000 people log on to give their deeply-considered views: some said we should just learn to get along, others predicted technology would see us through, and more still invoked the powers of God, love and peace.

But what the world wanted most of all was to hear the great scientist answer his own question, an intervention, most were convinced, that would amount to nothing less than a definitive treatise for human survival. Yesterday, the professor's response finally arrived. In a videoclip submission, the familiar electronic voice pronounced: "I don't know the answer. That is why I asked the question."

Signs of disappointment were muted yesterday, with one respondent choosing to applaud the scientist's honesty. "It is humbling to know that this question was asked by one of the most intelligent humans on the planet ... without already knowing a clear answer," wrote Inetap.

Others took a more encompassing view of life, concluding that humans had had a good innings and it was time to hand over the planet, albeit in a shabby state, to a new caretaker species to see if they could do better. "Maybe the human race shouldn't survive. Let other life forms flourish. We suck," said Video_stooge.

But Prof Hawking's frank admission that even he was stumped by the question merely opened a lengthy response. In a four-minute recorded reply, he laid out a beginner's guide to the changing face of threats to mankind, from devastating asteroid impact and nuclear war to climate change and rampaging genetically modified viruses.

In the long term, Prof Hawking says, humans will only survive if they can leave the rock they call home and spread out into space, to transform and occupy planets around our own sun and then around other suns. Failing that, he adds, perhaps our best bet is to use genetic engineering to tinker with the human species and make us less prone to fighting war.

The reply has now joined the multitude of responses from others who tried to answer the original question, among them succinct advice for us all to eat more fruit and veg, fledgling plans to live underwater, and functional advice to keep eating, breathing and having sex.

But Prof Hawking's message cut the online community into broad camps, populated by optimists, religious groups, climate change deniers and fellow doom-mongers. Rabbit, one poster, believed that despite war, climate change and a breathtaking acceleration of new technology, humankind was not about to annihilate itself. "It will work out ... There will undoubtedly be problems and disasters, but nothing so devastating to match your pessimism. Lighten up!"

The scientist's personal favourite answer came from the fittingly monikered Semi-Mad Scientist. "Without the belief that we will continue to grow and overcome the pains of social chaos as we mature as a species, we might as well not have any faith at all. I'm not talking religion ... but simply the same belief that we will survive just as much as the sun will rise the next day," he said.

Hawking Says Space Colonies Needed
By SYLVIA HUI

HONG KONG -- The survival of the human race depends on its ability to find new homes elsewhere in the universe because there's an increasing risk that a disaster will destroy the Earth, world-renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking said Tuesday.
Humans could have a permanent base on the moon in 20 years and a colony on Mars in the next 40 years, the British scientist told a news conference.

"We won't find anywhere as nice as Earth unless we go to another star system," added Hawking, who arrived in Hong Kong to a rock star's welcome Monday. Tickets for his lecture planned for Wednesday were sold out.

He added that if humans can avoid killing themselves in the next 100 years, they should have space settlements that can continue without support from Earth.
"It is important for the human race to spread out into space for the survival of the species," Hawking said. "Life on Earth is at the ever-increasing risk of being wiped out by a disaster, such as sudden global warming, nuclear war, a genetically engineered virus or other dangers we have not yet thought of."

The 64-year-old scientist _ author of the global best seller "A Brief History of Time" _ is wheelchair-bound and communicates with the help of a computer because he suffers from a neurological disorder called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS.
Hawking said he's teaming up with his daughter to write a children's book about the universe, aimed at the same age group as the Harry Potter books.

"It is a story for children, which explains the wonders of the universe," said his daughter, Lucy, a journalist and novelist. They didn't provide other details.

Quotations from Hawking...

I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.

Could you speculate on that !

A close cyberfriend of mine (although I have no other one) lately told me the following:

"...if you have arms, and you don't use them, then you don't really need them...but if you show you need to use them, then you get more...it is complicated..."

The above quotation is in context of the current Middle East crisis. In other words, according to my cyberfriend (who, by the way, is a well-literate person in foreign policies and a researcher in Middle Eastern studies), it represents the main direct yet complex whole perception of the current crisis.
I won't add more but I leave you to speculate on it (which I will be doing the same right now).

They started speaking of a Post-War Beirut...when it is still being Nomadized

Hmmm...
What can I say. Or can I say, can I think, can I deduce ? Am I allowed to deduce? Am I allowed to decide? ... But it seems that I can only speculate; and below are some of my speculations in this cuurent strata of a Pseudo-Democracy.

What some might say in a post-war beirut:

There are some who would come to say: "Hey, I have been traveling from a metropolis to the other, meeting friendly species who were once assistants in times of disgrace. Now I come back to you bringing hope of a peaceful colony, a colony whose nationals are alienated citizens. Those can bring me prosperity, then these aliens can replace my nationals. After all, this scenario was supposed to exist decades ago".

And there are some who come to say: "listen, we have been working to turn it off. We endangered our own species, so now we need inter-communal sacrifices from you_nationals of a turned-off colony. But wait again, we don't ask for monetary trades. We don't need you to clean our disgrace. We only ask you humbly to allow our species to alienate you. After all, you nationals are doomed to alienation before "it" occured.

But there are some who if they thought to say will face the 2 mentioned ditto: " we don't care neither to clean shoes nor to wax boats, we can only tell you to: "F <> <> <> OFF ".

Beirut Nomadized

Beirut Nomadized !!! A title that ulters socio-political debates in the uncanny world of democracy, a public democracy!
-Am I witnessing an organized localized war on my own soil, and is it they who triggered it? They who once called for a democratic Cedar Revolution?
-What Cedar revolution are we speaking about? the one that followed the death of P.M Hariri? -Is it that they wanted a revolution on the revolution?
-Be it that commands ordered an initiated revolution on democracy, on our adhoc democracy? -Or be it that we are destined to practice a democracy of an "unaltered tyrany".

I will not speak much now due to the fact that electricity is being interrupted by Israeli bombs all over Lebanon and I have to save my laptop battery. But let me adjourn by flooring this polemic:

When robert McNamara went to vietnam during a truce b/w the vietnamese and the US, the vietnamese official told McNamara:
"...you are fighting other countries on our soil from one hand and claiming we are terrorists when we resist on the other hand,... but we will ultimately win because we are fighting for a belief, a cause , we are fighting for existence, that such cause could never be over-run by stated ordered democracy..."

[N.B: Concerning the bove quotation, I couldn't memorize it exactly as is, but I managed as sincerely as possible to copy the basic concept behind it. It is captioned from the biographic movie by Robert Mc.Namara]

...etc...

P.S: All ideas and inquisitions posted here are not to be answered under any conditions. Nevertheless, any copying, plagiarising or editing any or part of the text existed above would result in a thorough scientific persue of the copier's ID number, its amunition, and all those who manipulated and perpetrated it both consciously and unconsciously under any circumstances whatsoever these circumstances are ( whether it is a lack of ink or humid papers feeded, or interrupted electricity)

Yep...it has been a long time since i last updated you with "rhizometectural" work. I beleive now is the time. I did won the Said Akl Award on Creativity. So for those who beleived I was procrastinating, this is what I was accomplishing. I won't add much but I will leave you with some slides on the presentation along with the project presented.

Any comment would be highly appreciated.

Well, for the time being, I will only afford such a humble supply of information. But i promise you that in the coming weeks you would be experiencing a thorough representation of above conceptions embodied in the senior project.

As a course of action that is required of any Rhizometect by the rhizometectural position, social custom or law, I thereby declare the intentions (really I am into it) of building my first A4 size Vacuum-Forming machine. Of course i will, later on, be upgrading this post with new images revealing the corporeal vacuum-formed machine that is intensifying the tools of a Rhizometect.

As I promised you earlier at the begining of the Holy Month of Most Holy Mother Mary(1st. of May), I hereby indicate the removal of all religious indications to moralize my blog only for architectural commemoration of Rhizometectural becomings. Or else be us Puppeteers?...He lived in 2406 B.C. ... and still thinks he rule !

""Que nul n'entre sous mon Toit s'il n'est geometre."".
Plato ~2406 B.C.

(Above slogan was originally written in greek, but the only translation that could honestly manifest the true meaning is to be found in french. However, we, NDU architecture students, managed to translate it to english with the profound help of Dr. Farid Younes in one of his theory
nevertheless, no one has ever translated it to any other language with the exact translation that sicerely reflects plato's intentions
Our translation is:
(he who hasen't mastered geometry should not enter my academia)

2406 years have passed and still:

There are some who say: we are born with a collective sub-conscious manipulating us to "design" intuitively any shape, since all shapes are and do exist or once existed.

And there are some who say: let's face it. Now we are architects and designers and now we have the right (we always had the right) to "CREATE". We are Natural Born "CREATIVE ARCHITECTS AND DESIGNERS".

But there is "anyone" who have said and is saying what have been said and what haven't to have been said:

He who hasen't mastered NURBS topology, should not enter the "any" Akademia but is privileged to enter the academia of "architectural heresy".

N.B: I know fellow members of the swarm that your comments would definitely cast their "greeness" on the provided post written herein.

Should I say: No more "Procrastination"?

Should I say: No more Procrastination, or should I not.

Is "Procrastination" a sub-conscious reflex to acquire optimal solutions, especially if the aim was or is of an "Absolute" realm?
For the coming few weeks i will be indulged in some atronomically cosmical opus. However, i will and shall not claim the " NO MORE PROCRASTINATION" thing, because, being on the verge of becoming a rhizometect, I would dare myself to Procrastinate.

And do you consider this procrastination?

Aren't they members of the rhizomatic community?

Browsing the internet, I came by these photos, which might be considered as pure but hybrid members of the flock of creatures whom we might ever resemble to BLOBS.

Well, although defined by some as the ugliest creatures below the surface of the earth, I can see no uncommonality why we can't appropriate these creatures to architecture. I mean we hover arround "drawing" plans, sections, elevations, and sometimes we "build" 3d physical models and then with some money in the budget, we go into the 3d virtual simulation tools. But, let's face it, what we come out with "are" architectures that would never ever resemble any human need ( and i used h
ere the term "are" instead of is to render the issue of eclecticism. You (of course I won't say me because by writing this blog I am confessing of the power of unti-ecclectisicm). You are manipulating pre-existing traits of architecture that once was considered unrecognizable in its times, and now you copy these traits and say "WE DEFINED BEAUTY". I say to you, you the architectural puppeteers, ENOUGH. Now it is time to stop thinking architecture, architecture of the traits, and start thinking Rhizometecture. Now it is time to evolve...

PLEA_Passive and Low Energy Building in Beirut Central District

"We can’t breathe under water...but we can generate an Amphibian".

This was the title I choose for a passive and Low Energy Building in Beirut Central District. As an Architecture undergraduate student, I found it relevant now to participate in an international competition although knowing in advance that I might not get a chance having competitors from all over the world( Italy, London, US...to name some). The sole aim was to break the wall of Platonism and Cartesian Euclideanism in Forms and Form generation process even if this means designing a passive and sustainable and low energy building and even within strict building rules and regulations emposed on the competitors by Solidere( the constrcution company behind reconstructing beirut).

So being an architecture maniac, my proposal was to build an amphibian, a building that lives both inside and outside water( outside water as is the case of all buildings, and inside water due to the fact that beirut is a costal city always suceptible to heavy rains).

Now consider an amphibian, a smooth-skinned vertebrate, such as a frog or salamander, that characteristically hatches as an aquatic larva with gills. The larva then transforms into an adult having air-breathing lungs. We could, implementing high-end computer aided design and animation software, to not only design but also generate a Residential Amphibian; a building capable of literally breathing in summer and warming itself in winter adapting to the Lebanese ecological and environmental surrounding; hence maintaining a bottom-up approach in energy responsive architectural design.

contending the extensive use of technology in preserving our internal and external ecology hence environment, there is a potentiality of using technology, especially high end animation software as simulation and manipulation tools to help generate a building that might be once considered an Amphibian, adapting and abiding by the rules of the environment.

Anti_Positivistic Rhizometecture...

I thought I can't mention systemism without initiating you about the hidden confines of its assets. Positivism, a word/world depletedly used in the architectural field specifically, and in a cosmological scale applied to all precepts of life. We curently think, rationalizing reasonably, presuming of a born ability to perceive everything. Yet we encounter "X" things which we can't perceive, or do we? How could we admit that there are things that exist yet we can't be able to perceive in their enitrely. Then "X" things are not to exist in our world, but do they exist?
Here where I want to initiate my speculations about anti-positivism and the anti-positivistic architect/human being. We(positivistic adherances) highly accept the existence of the "X"-thing yet on the same hand we negate its feasablility. Then how could we perceive it?

To know speculations for unanswered iterations, Interact and converse to this post, to groove in an interface of anti-positivism.
